Migration Update: Big Bass Push Into New England
The peak of the migration through the Mid-Atlantic has passed, but the action just keeps spreading north. The last of the big migratory stripers are leaving Maryland waters, while Southern New Jersey’s inlets and beaches still hold slot-sized and just-over-slot fish in the back bays. Large bass are staged off Northern Jersey, with big fish still working through Raritan Bay.
Long Island Sound is loaded with big bass chasing bunker, with more fish arriving from both the western and eastern ends. The South Shore of Long Island is running hot and cold as waves of bass move through. Stripers are chasing herring throughout New Hampshire’s Great Bay, and sand eels are fueling a great striper bite in Maine. With big numbers of big stripers already in Maine and more on the way, we expect to see some big catches out of Vacationland!
