Switching out the treble hooks on lures for VMC inline single hooks is becoming popular among anglers, primarily for easier catch-and-release fishing that does less damage to fish.
When swapping out your hooks, make sure the single hooks are facing away from the plug as seen in the video above. This will give you the highest chance to hook up. If you have the hooks facing the wrong way, you’ll more than likely miss the fish.

Hello, I live in Brooklyn but when I visit family in Massachusetts I fish Plymouth and the Cape a lot. I know the rules have change but I'm curious if for hard baits like xrps and plugs, do I need to replace all the treble hooks with circle hooks now? Or is that just for live baits?

Although it's beneficial for a less traumatic catch & release experience for striped bass hooked on plugs, circle hooks are only required by regulation for live bait.
